STARTING POINT:

WHAT

We call ourselves onizou [oni soo] and are two designers and idea nomads, 'oni' and 'zou'. We met in Shanghai in 2006 and are sharing life and work ever since. Now we are traveling the world as onizou. But this isn't a tourist trip: it's a creative journeywith design events on the way. We are not in a hurry anywhere and the traveling will mainly be by train and bus, which keeps timing and destinations flexible. Check >where to see the route we take.

For how long are you traveling?

Until we are tired of it, or run out of money. We target a year or more starting from April 2009.

What does "idea nomads" mean?

We are designers and live from our ideas. We are on the move. Hence ‘idea nomads’. The concept of a nomadic lifestyle fascinates modern people, which is visible in today’s fashion trends and in new terminology such as ‘technomad’, ‘urban nomad’ and ‘neo-nomad’. onizou will explore nomadic concepts during the tour by holding workshops on the theme, meeting genuine nomads and experiencing a nomadic lifestyle. As true technomads we stay connected, finding our way and keeping track of our movements with GPS.

Where does the name "onizou" come from?
